The National Ballet of Canada

Objective

Cultural institutions have embraced the power of brand. In this project, I was assigned to prepare a campaign to promote a local institution with my own graphics and design elements.

Solution

Starting from starch, I created the logo idea by combining two components: a ballet symbol and a Wordmark. I want the logo to convey a sense of ballet institution. Red is the primary colour to bold the brand identity.

Ballet is well-known for its beautiful movement and formalized actions of dancing. From that inspiration, I illustrated each ballerina’s movement following specific positions by line-art style; then applied graphic elements to make the illustration more standout and harmonious with the overall design.
