ASSO IRCM
ASSO is the student association of the IRCM (Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal), dedicated to fostering connections and collaboration within the IRCM community. It organizes both scientific and social activities to promote a positive and productive environment while representing students on various committees and connecting with student groups at both Université de Montréal and McGill University.
I participated in a logo design contest for ASSO IRCM, the student association of the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM), and won the opportunity to design their brand identity. The logo needed to reflect the association’s mission and values while aligning with the IRCM graphic charter.

Logo Design
The concept behind the logo is inspired by the genetic diversity inherent in every individual. The logo features a unique DNA strand that symbolizes the distinctiveness of each person. However, when individual elements of the design come together, they form a continuous, unlimited pattern, representing the powerful connection between each member of the association. This transformation highlights the idea that when people connect, they form something bolder, stronger, and more extensive.
DNA as a Metaphor: Each person contributes their knowledge, perspectives, and strengths, just as DNA carries the blueprint of life.
Connection and Growth: The expanding pattern illustrates how the association’s influence grows stronger as its members collaborate.
Scientific Elements: Modern, clean lines reflect the scientific nature of IRCM, while the logo maintains an inclusive, approachable feel.
Iconography Design
After winning the logo design contest for ASSO IRCM, I participated again in a second contest to design the logo for the back of the ASSO and IRCM hoodies, and once again, I was selected as the winner.
The challenge was to represent IRCM’s various research areas—cardiometabolic health, immunity/inflammation, genetic and neurological diseases, and cancer—through a graphic design that was both easily printable and high in quality.
I transformed each of these research areas into individual icons, and connected them through continuous arrows. These arrows represent the dynamic and cyclical nature of the scientific research happening at IRCM, while the icons reflect the association’s core research areas.
